The Village of Crystal Lake incorporation.
Village incorporation is a privilege given only to communities that meet the State's many requirements. Our community has met every requirement and has nearly completed the entire process required to establish a Village. Our community has earned the right for considerable State support and the right to self determination. The community can be "Village of Crystal Lake".
Benefits
* A Village will have increased revenue for the community to offer services,
make improvements, and seek available grant moneys.
* A Village Council will focus on concerns unique to only the Village area.
* A Village will give a resort atmosphere to the community.
* A Village will have community support. A community of the residents, for the
residents.
* A Village can improve and protect property values.
* A Village will have community decisions made by community residents.
* A Village must create a Master Plan that addresses; History, Census data, Residential land use, Commercial land use, Industrial land use, Agricultural land use, Future land use, Well and septic plan, Streets and Transportation plan, Governmental service plan, Recreation plan, Long term project plan, Survey results, Zoning map(if any).
* A Village will have increased communication with local organizations for economic development such as DDA(Downtown Development Authority), Chamber of Commerce and Montcalm Alliance.
* A Village could in the future offer services that save the
residents money such as Dry hydrants, Tree & leaf pickup, Trash pickup,
Public Water,
Paving dirt roads.
* A Village is still within a Township, uses Township services, and
residents will continue to vote on Township issues.

* The Village will have $248,431.00 in state funding to work with, This is $2.48million over 10 years!.
* The Village doesn't change | Fire | Police | Sewer | Tax assessing | Parks | Cemetery services | Township voting rights.
* The Village will cost residents and property owners nothing. No new taxes.
* The Village is not another layer of government. In fact, it allows citizens to be more involved in how their community operates.
* A Village can run on $248,431.00 annual budget without additional taxes.
* The Village of Crystal Lake will receive
$94,753.42 in state revenue funding.
$144,862.80 in state road funding. (Montcalm County Road Commission today only receives $76,295.33 for Village Area)

* Voting YES on November 7th doesn’t
automatically create a Village. It simply permits the additional two votes to
proceed.
1. Vote for the five Charter Commission members who will create the proposed Charter.
2. Vote to adopt or reject the Charter. This result of the vote determines if the community wants a Village.
* For the future of our community, it is very important that everyone vote on November 7th.

* The entire Crystal Township runs today on
$199,266.00 annual revenue sharing.
* The Township does not lose any money.
* The Township will have the same revenue and less area to service.
* Both Village and Township residents will utilize Township offered services such as fire, police, tax assessing, parks, cemetery services..
